WSP have been working with Medway and Swale CCG with the STP implementation and impact challenges of Local Care.  The approach builds on current STP transformation plans but enables and facilitates local input.  It does this through engagement with local analysts and change agents to specify local demand drivers, local care implementation profiles and the anticipated impact from Local Care functions.  This produces a transparent and locally owned set of assumptions, including the links between the different elements of local care and their impact on the STP/FYFV activity ‘gap’.  The resultant modelling tool therefore helps local partners to understand:

• The interdependencies within the proposed interventions, including the timing and ‘knock-on’ effect of these interventions, including sensitivity to the immediacy or delay in realising the benefit of different interventions;
• The scaling of local care functions as a basis for further financial and workforce planning;
• The sensitivities of the model to alternative, population health based, assumptions for demand.

This is the 3^rd piece of Local Care Modelling work underway in Kent, and as well as the outputs above contributes to the development of local capacity and capability building in System Dynamics modelling, supporting the Health Foundation funded Advancing Applied Analytics Community of Practice being led by Kent County Council (with input from Medway Council) and facilitated by WSP.
