Nature of Work -
This report, commissioned by The Whole Systems Partnership, examines some of the issues arising from the introduction of Self Directed Support. In particular, it focuses on the impact on, and change in, relationships brought about between care managers, service providers, service users , their families, and other support agencies, as a result of the implementation of the SDS policy. It identifies the need to consider and understand the interplay between money and relationships as crucial for successful implementation of SDS; in addition, the report highlights as fundamental the requirement that those planning and implementing the personalisation of services pay careful attention to the future capacity of those services to develop and sustain new patterns of support relationship.
