Workforce Supply & Development Models

Two products to aid decision making in health and social care workforce strategy are:

  • the Professional Supply model, which can be used to understand the factors that HEIs need to take into account when deciding on the levels of new students that need to start training in the context of a local health community and,
  • the Career Progression model, which answers questions aimed at understanding the need to train existing staff or recruit staff given changes in service delivery and hence skill-mix – a worked example of where this tool has been embedded in a local project can be downloaded here

This webinar introduces these models and provides some indication of the scope for adapting these ‘vanilla’ models to your local characteristics and the key factors involved in calibrating and using the models.
